IN-CAA History
The Indiana Community action association (IN-CAA) is a not-for-profit corporation that was incorporated in the State of Indiana in 1970. IN-CAA is governed by a Board of Directors that is comprised of all of the Executive Directors of the Community Action Programs (CAP) in the State of Indiana. Indiana Community Action Association is dedicated to helping low income families attain the skills, knowledge and motivation necessary to achieve self-sufficiency. We serve as advocate and facilitator of policy, planning and programs to create solutions and share responsibility as leaders in the war against poverty. We serve the collective interests of our community action network through representation, educational programs, training programs, information exchange, advocacy and other support services.

The functions of IN-CAA include dissemination of information throughout the Indiana Community Action Network, the delivery of services in areas where local operators have not been available, the development of training programs that are seen as viable or all Indiana Community Action Agencies, the management of training functions that have value for Community Action Agency and State staff, the development of collective positions that are used as negotiating points with funding sources and other institutions that have impacts on the Indiana Community Action Network, implementation of practices that are best delivered by a central agency and other functions that are agreed upon by the Board of Directors.

IN-CAA houses a 10,000 square foot training facility used for providing technical training for employees and contractors of the 25 Weatherization Assistance Programs and a variety of training for all Community Action staff.

IN-CAA introduces new energy saving technologies and evaluative procedures to help reduce energy costs and at the same time keeping people comfortable.
